Lakas holds loyalty check; breaks ties with "traitors"

 
Anticipating the departure of more "treacherous" members who have shifted their support to the dominant opposition in the province, the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD rounded up all its mayoralty bets in 47 towns and the city Monday for a loyalty check.

 The Philippines, subjugated by the West and East, can be termed as an amalgam of both worlds. In business practices as well.

"Learn the good, discard the bad" is a dictum Filipino businessmen should view some of the foreign business practices.

After all, the Europeans through Spain, ruled the country with an iron hand for 400 years and the Americans had their turn - culturally - for about 50 years. on CJ controversy

MANILA. The Supreme Court yesterday deferred to today its ruling on whether President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo can appoint the successor of Chief Justice Reynato Puno, who will retire on May 17 when the election appointment ban is still in effect.

In an television interview, Supreme Court spokesman Midas Marquez said the en banc failed to come up with a ruling, but they agreed to submit all written opinions last night so that the justices can go over them and come up with a decision this morning.FULL STORY
